Congress has been out of power in Gujarat for the last 30 years and even after Shaktisinh Gohil became the state president, the Congress’s disintegration has not stopped. When Shaktisinh was asked whether the people of Gujarat want the opposition to become strong and fight with passion, Shaktisinh Gohil said that every Congress worker is fighting with passion. Shaktisinh claimed that if the Congress lacked a fighting spirit, then the BJP would not have had to sweat in the local body elections.
Congress candidates are intimidated, shown bulldozers, threatened by the police, and lured with bags of money, yet 1500 candidates fight strongly in the municipality without worrying about defeat or victory, only their passion makes them fight. Shaktisinh said that in the coming days also, Congress will fight with the same passion for service.
How much of a challenge does Shaktisinh face in retaining the chairmanship?
Shaktisinh said bluntly, “I have never worked hard against the high command to maintain my position. I am a soldier, I work, and I am not even going to ask them to keep me as long as I am the president. But the high command will keep me. Rahul Gandhi has also said while leaving that you have to fight and you have to stay. I will fight strongly and stay.”
In response to the question of how many marks out of 10 would Shaktisinh Gohil give himself as the state president of Gujarat Congress, Shaktisinh made a frank confession and said that until the Congress government is formed in Gujarat, zero.
