Gujarat Raises Income Limit for RTE Children’s Education
The Gujarat government has increased the income limit for admission under RTE (Right to Education) to ₹6 lakh so that more students can get the benefit. The last date for online application has been extended to April 15.
The Gujarat government has taken an important decision for the education of children under the RTE (Right to Education) Act. As per the new rules of the government, the income limit for admission under RTE has been increased, which will now be available even to families with an income of up to Rs. 6 lakh. With this decision, more children will get good and equal opportunities for their education.
Income Limit and Application Date
- The income limit for rural and urban areas has been increased to Rs. 6 lakh.
- The last date to apply online is April 15.
- The government has extended the period to allow more students to get admission in RTE.
Seats available for admission
A total of 93,000+ seats will be available in private schools across the state:
Ahmedabad: 14,778 (city) | 2,262 (district)
- Surat : 15,229 (city) | 3,913 (rural area)
- Vadodara : 4,800
- Rajkot : 6,640
Priority students
Priority is given to children from the following categories for RTE admission:
- Orphaned children
- Children in need of care and protection
- Child laborers and children of migrant workers
- Children with disabilities and special needs
- Children receiving treatment under ART (anti-retroviral therapy)
- Children of military, paramilitary and police forces martyred in the line of duty
- Children of parents who have only one child (daughter)
- Children studying in government anganwadi
- Children from BPL families (SC, ST, SEBC, General and others)
- Children from socially and educationally backward classes
Children from general category and non-reserved category
